Accountant | Relay

Relay is closing the gap left by the digital revolution for the deskless workforce, transforming analog frontline operations into a data-rich, AI-powered ecosystem to build the digital foundation for the 80% of the global workforce that doesn’t work at a desk. This role is critical for mastering the daily flow of company cash, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, and providing leadership with crisp, real-time financial insights. You will contribute significantly to maintaining financial integrity and supporting informed decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Cash Management: Master daily cash flow by performing bank reconciliations in NetSuite and collaborating with the billing team for accurate payment application, providing leadership with real-time cash position insights.
• Expense Administration: Administer Relay’s expense (Navan) and corporate card (Brex) platforms, streamlining workflows, curating spending policies, and monitoring adherence to identify trends and out-of-policy activity.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Serve as the primary liaison between Accounting, FP&A, and People Services, ensuring timely and accurate reflection of payroll data in NetSuite and proper allocation of people costs across departments and cost centers.
• Financial Reporting: Own the full lifecycle of assigned balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, completing reconciliations, and supporting a timely and accurate month-end close in accordance with US GAAP.
• System Optimization: Proactively identify, recommend, and implement improvements to internal processes and reporting, focusing on integrating applications and thoughtfully leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly related field. This is an entry-level role with a strong foundational understanding of US GAAP.
• Experience: 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience. Internship experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting setting is a plus.
• Skills: High attention to detail with a knack for identifying variances and troubleshooting data mismatches; strong interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments and explain financial requirements; ability to thrive in a tech-forward environment with evolving automated workflows; comfort with learning and thoughtfully leveraging AI and automation tools.
• Bonus: Progress toward Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation; direct experience navigating and utilizing NetSuite; prior experience with payroll system reporting; experience working with financial close automation platforms (e.g., FloQast, Numeric, NetClose) and modern T&E platforms; familiarity with Navan.
