Accountant | CFS

The Tone:
This is a full-time Accountant role at CFS, based fully onsite in Mt. Vernon, OH. The individual in this position will be a detail-oriented and reliable professional responsible for managing the daily accounting operations of the company. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting critical month-end and year-end closing activities, and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger in compliance with established accounting standards. Success in this position requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively and independently within the accounting function.

• Mission: Manage daily accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support crucial closing activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Core Operations: Manage the daily accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring efficient and timely transactions.
• Financial Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare accurate journal entries, conduct thorough account reconciliations, and generate comprehensive financial statements.
• Period-End Activities: Provide essential assistance with month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure timely completion.
• Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain the general ledger with precision, ensure compliance with all accounting standards, and organize up-to-date financial records.
• Financial Analysis & Support: Monitor and analyze financial data for discrepancies, support budget preparation, and assist with tax document filing and audits as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, providing a foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically encompassing critical functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, comprehensive general ledger management, and detailed account reconciliations.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems), advanced Excel capabilities including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas, coupled with a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, communication, and time-management skills are also required, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Bonus: While an Associate’s degree is acceptable, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred for this role.
