Accountant I | Ultra Maritime

The Tone:

As an entry-level Accountant, this role is essential for building the financial foundation that supports Ultra Maritime’s business operations. You will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial records, ensuring reliable reporting that enables informed business decisions and supports the successful delivery of the company’s vital mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with accounting policies.
• Financial Close Support: Assist with critical month-end and year-end close activities, contributing to timely financial reporting.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger accounts, diligently investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy.
• Asset Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous fixed asset records, including up-to-date asset location information.
• Financial Operations Assistance: Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed, and assist with audit preparation by gathering documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Possess a basic understanding of accounting principles and fundamental financial reporting practices.
• Experience: 0-2 years of relevant accounting or related professional experience, including valuable internships. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.
• Skills: Exhibit strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively while working collaboratively in a team environment. Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and clear communication skills.
• Bonus: Previous experience utilizing ERP systems is considered a significant advantage.
