This internship is within the Geotechnical Building & Construction team, part of the Intertek-PSI division, which provides a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. As an intern, you will contribute to geotechnical engineering projects for Intertek-PSI, a leading US-based provider of assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting solutions in civil and commercial construction, covering areas like construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and industrial hygiene. • Mission: Conduct a variety of project-specific testing, site observations, and assessments under direct supervision following detailed controlled procedures to gather data for geotechnical engineering projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Site Assessments & Testing: Perform a variety of project-specific observations, site assessment duties, and testing procedures under direct supervision, strictly adhering to detailed controlled procedures.
• Operate Equipment & Collect Data: Operate specialized testing equipment and conduct various testing procedures to acquire essential data, which will then be prepared for reporting.
• Interpret Project Documentation: Work effectively by utilizing and interpreting detailed drawings, specifications, and diagrams relevant to ongoing projects and tasks.
• Document and Analyze Findings: Maintain thorough and detailed documentation of all test results and observations, including operating a calculator to formulate mathematical results, and provide limited interpretation of the findings.
• Ensure Safety & Foster Communication: Adhere diligently to all established safety practices and policies for personal and team well-being, and communicate effectively with both clients and internal project teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or a closely related field.
• Experience: No prior experience is required for this role, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to ensure success.
• Skills: Possess fundamental math, calculator, and computer proficiency; demonstrate the ability to communicate and interact effectively through both verbal and written means; capable of accurately reading and understanding complex work plans; hold a valid Driver’s License with a reliable driving record; and be available to work off shifts and overtime when project needs arise.
