Development Intern 2026-2027 | Hand To Hold
The Tone:
This is an internship at Hand to Hold, located in Austin, TX, operating with a hybrid work model that requires occasional in-office presence and local travel for events. Hand to Hold is a rapidly growing and award-winning nonprofit, recognized as a Best Place for Working Parents® for three consecutive years (2022-2025). The organization is dedicated to providing vital early intervention mental health support before, during, and after a NICU stay, with the ultimate goal of ensuring all NICU families thrive. This Fall and Spring internship supports the Development team in crucial fundraising and event coordination efforts. The role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations, directly contributing to the organization’s mission while furthering the intern’s academic and professional development in areas like Business, Non-Profit Management, Hospitality, Communications, or Marketing.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Event Management Support: Assist with a range of activities related to event planning and coordination for Hand to Hold’s largest local fundraising events, handling behind-the-scenes logistics such as vendor communication, scheduling, and material preparation.
• In-Kind Donation Solicitation: Actively solicit essential in-kind donations from businesses and individuals, specifically for NICU families supported by Hand to Hold, directly contributing to family comfort and well-being.
• Corporate Sponsorship Research: Conduct thorough research to identify and document potential corporate sponsors for Hand to Hold, analyzing their alignment with the organization’s mission and outreach goals to aid in future partnership development.
• Donation Logistics & Stewardship: Organize the practical logistics for in-kind donation solicitations and pickups, and contribute to cultivating positive relationships through donor stewardship efforts for event attendees and key supporters.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student currently pursuing a degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Hospitality, Communications, or Marketing from an accredited college or university. A foundational commitment and dedication to Hand to Hold’s mission of supporting NICU families is essential.
• Experience: Demonstrated interest in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations, reflecting personal qualities of integrity and credibility. The ideal candidate will approach new ideas boldly and engage with compassion when interacting with families facing unique challenges.
