Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) is inviting students to join our 2026 engineering cooperative education programs for non-nuclear Power Generation positions. Our programs are designed to attract, develop, and retain high-potential college students. Successful completion of the program, coupled with graduation, may lead to eligibility for a full-time position within one of DESC’s core businesses.

Students will gain valuable knowledge in fossil (natural gas and coal) and hydroelectric generation operations, as well as environmental excellence. This experience will prepare them to compete for entry-level professional positions in the utility industry upon graduation.

Selected Student(s) Will Gain Utility Knowledge In The Following Areas:

Based upon the student’s area of interest and business need, this includes but is not limited to:

  • Planning and project management for maintenance activities and additions/modifications to DESC’s generation facilities.
  • Preparing project scoping, competitive bidding, and project justification.
  • Reviewing and supporting project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and providing status reports.
  • Supporting plant operations in performing a variety of equipment and systems testing.
  • Supporting engineering studies and analysis, and equipment and system testing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as a team.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
  • While on a co-op rotation, must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location and have reliable transportation. (Note: A housing stipend/allowance is available for eligible students).
  • Must be able to move about freely and perform field work in challenging environments.
  • Must have strong computer knowledge and skills with demonstrated ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office products.

Education Requirements

  • Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering (degree program must be ABET Accredited).
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be enrolled and planning on graduating in the fall of 2028 or later.
