About the Job: 2026 Consumer Insights Interns

The Consumer Insights Team:
You will join a diverse and collaborative team of Social Scientists, UX/Product and Market Researchers, and Research Operations professionals. This team is dedicated to bringing human perspective and consumer insight to Netflix’s world of entertainment. Interns will work directly with cross-functional partners across Netflix, including Content, Marketing, Communications, Design, Product Development, Data Science, and Engineering.

Internship Focus:
The 2026 Consumer Insights Interns will be specifically partnered with our Content, Member, and Marketing/Communications teams within the Consumer Insights department. The primary goal is to leverage research methods to shape the global product experience and increase member joy.

Research Methodologies & Approaches:
The team conducts primary research ranging from formative to evaluative, utilizing a wide array of approaches including:
• Focus groups
• In-depth interviews
• Usability studies
• Ethnography
• Quantitative surveys
• Statistical modeling

What You’ll Do:
As a Consumer Insights Intern, you will play an active role in various research activities:
Collaborate with Senior Researchers: Work closely with senior researchers and cross-functional partners to examine and leverage existing qualitative and quantitative insights, generating new hypotheses applied to business questions.
Identify Knowledge Gaps: Assist in identifying and prioritizing areas where research can be impactful, recommending potential methods to address those knowledge gaps.
Execute Research Projects: In partnership with your team, execute primary and secondary research projects, such as qualitative interviews, prototype evaluations, and survey development.
Synthesize & Communicate Findings: Synthesize and communicate research findings, crafting actionable, data-driven recommendations in partnership with your team.
Facilitate Engagement: Collaborate in running readout sessions, workshops, and brainstorms to help stakeholders understand and engage with insights.

Ideal Background & Qualifications:
Education: Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD (preferred) program of study, with at least one additional quarter or semester of school remaining after the conclusion of the internship.
Degree Study In: Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Design, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Social Science, Anthropology, Human Factors, Behavioral Economics, or related fields.
Research Experience: Experience executing hands-on, primary research as part of school curriculum or external work. Experience with international research is a plus, but not required.
Methodological Knowledge: Knowledge of qualitative (e.g., interview, diary studies, usability studies, contextual inquiry, concept evaluations) and quantitative (surveys, experiments, statistical hypothesis testing) research methods.

The Summer Internship:

Personalized Experience: At Netflix, we offer a personalized experience for interns, aiming to mimic what it’s like to actually work here. Qualified interns are matched with projects and groups based on interests and skill sets and are fully embedded within those groups for the summer.

Duration & Location:
• Internships will be a minimum of 12 weeks, with timing flexible to candidate needs.
• Conditions permitting, our summer internships will be located in our Los Gatos, CA office, or in our Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.

Compensation:
• Netflix carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors to determine internship top of market. We use market indicators and consider your specific internship team, degree, and years of education.
• The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $40/hour – $110/hour. This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only hourly rate), aligning with our compensation philosophy.
