26-27 Season Operations and Sales Internship | Charlotte Checkers

The Tone:
This is an internship opportunity with the Charlotte Checkers, an American Hockey League team, based in Charlotte, NC. The organization operates within a competitive and results-driven environment, offering interns a chance to contribute significantly to its success. This role is designed to provide extensive hands-on experience, supporting critical game day operations, front office projects, and community outreach efforts. Interns will gain valuable practical skills and insights into the sports industry by collaborating closely with all members of the Front Office team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Game Day Operations & Production: Coordinate the comprehensive setup, execution, and breakdown of all 36 home game days, including supporting game presentation staff and coordinating on-ice presentations like anthem singers and ceremonial puck drops.
• Promotional Event Management: Assist in the planning and execution of theme nights, promotional giveaways, intermission entertainment, postgame activities, and other fan engagement initiatives.
• Fan Experience & Sales: Manage in-game activations such as Chuck-A-Puck and DASH auction tables, oversee merchandise sales and inventory, and provide exceptional customer service to enhance the game-day experience.
• Community & Member Engagement: Support Season Ticket Member events, coordinate community appearances, assist with promotional events, and contribute to youth hockey and mascot initiatives as needed.
• Front Office Projects & Support: Dedicate weekly office hours to assist with ticket sales support, contribute to administrative projects, and take on other departmental initiatives to gain broad experience across business functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Working towards a four-year college degree, a graduate degree, or a recent graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, or Sports Management.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and a proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
• Bonus: Experience in the sports industry, a customer-first mindset, a self-starter who takes initiative, an open mind and willingness to learn, enthusiasm, dedication, pride, a positive attitude, and a professional appearance.
