Job Description

Summary

This position involves performing all cooking methods, controlling portions, garnishing dishes, and following recipes according to Pinehurst’s standards. The individual will work under the direction of the Resort Executive Chef, Managing Chef, and/or Sous Chefs, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, taste, and production. Flexibility is key, as the role requires availability to work in various Food and Beverage outlets depending on business levels, and to work holidays wherever needed, even if the primary outlet is closed.

Education And Experience

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), along with a minimum of 3 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Enrollment in or graduation from an approved culinary program is also required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensure production of food in a timely manner.
• Prepare food so that quality, taste, and appearance are in accordance with Pinehurst standards.
• Control proper usage and rotation of food.
• Ensure food quality and appearance on buffet and plated food aligns with Pinehurst standards.
• Alert Chef or direct supervisor to any food quality issues that could adversely affect Pinehurst Resort culinary operations.
• Maintain walk-in coolers and food storage areas on a daily basis.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and sanitary workstation.
• Ensure workstation and all equipment are clean and sanitized prior to the change of shift.
• Ensure outlined prep is completed in a timely manner for the next shift.
• Carry out duties and responsibilities of the job as deemed necessary by the Resort Executive Chef, Managing Chef, or Sous Chef on duty, and as changes occur in work environment and/or workload.
• Make sound judgment calls and decisions based upon principles set forth by the Pinehurst Resort culinary management team.
• Operate within established guidelines, policies, standards, and constraints set forth by Pinehurst Resort.
• Attend departmental Safety Meetings on a regular basis.
• Assist other departments as needed.

Physical Demands

The role requires significant physical activity. Employees are regularly required to talk or hear, and taste or smell. Frequently, the employee must stand, walk, use hands for fine manipulation, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. Occasionally, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is essential. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate. Employees will be required to work in both hot and cold places, and occasionally in outdoor settings.
