About the Job: Casual MRI Technologist
Gillette Children’s is seeking a Casual MRI Technologist for its main campus in St. Paul, MN. This is a casual (0.01 FTE) position, designed to provide support for team needs, such as covering vacations and sick leave, as well as managing increased patient loads.

Core Responsibilities:
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing MRI exams, screening and monitoring patient care within the MRI environment, and assisting Radiologists in implementing MRI protocols. Technologists are expected to deliver quality, age-appropriate patient care in accordance with established standards of practice and to collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team, serving both pediatric and adult populations.

Staffing Hours:
The standard staffing hours are from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The position also requires participation in rotational call hours on weekends and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits:
The hourly wage for this role ranges from $36.50/hour to $51.94/hour. The specific pay rate is determined by factors such as the number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure. This position is also eligible for shift differential pay based on the shifts worked.

Major Job Responsibilities (Detailed):
• Maintaining knowledge of and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Actively participating in the creation and implementation of improvements to processes and patient care.
• Performing high-quality patient care in the MRI environment.
• Understanding and applying basic MRI physics in the non-ionizing environment to grasp the applications and indications of various MRI scan protocols.
• Operating MRI equipment accurately and promptly reporting any issues to the supervisor and/or vendor service.
• Monitoring and maintaining established MRI protocols in collaboration with Radiologists.
• Training and advising new employees on routine protocols and processes.
• Practicing proper safety precautions within the magnet environment and ensuring all patients, staff, and visitors are informed according to established guidelines.
• Reviewing, organizing, and distributing patient paperwork and images to the Radiologist.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology or School of MRI.
• Current MRI certification through the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), or certification eligibility.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Preferred:
• Prior MRI experience, especially with Siemens scanners.
• Experience working with the pediatric population.
• Demonstrated skill in leadership and effective interpersonal communications with patients’ families, co-workers, medical staff, and others.
• Demonstrated active involvement in professional organizations, quality and safety improvement initiatives, or research.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• CT (Computed Tomography) experience/certification is a plus for future opportunities.
