About Lamb Weston:

Lamb Weston offers a paid internship program designed around career goals and hands-on projects. The program includes a capstone project, mentorship, and networking opportunities with executives and other interns across various departments (Agricultural Science, Data Science, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Manufacturing, Food Science, Marketing, and Engineering). The internship runs from May to August (dates may vary).

Job Description: Agriculture / Agronomy Intern

This internship provides support to the Lamb Weston Agricultural Services team on various agronomy-related projects. A mentor will provide training and weekly reviews.

Typical Duties:

Working alongside the raw potato grading crew: Gaining an understanding of potato grading processes.
Collaborating with a mentor: Focusing on areas such as Agronomy, Partner Grower – Farming, and Raw Utilization/Procurement. Specific tasks within these areas include:
Agronomy: Developing a deep understanding of potato growth, development, and the impact of environmental factors on quality and yield. This involves new variety data capture, trial development and implementation, field scouting, and observation.
Partner Grower – Farming: Reviewing and analyzing budgetary processes affecting quality and yield, including crop management, pest and fertilizer applications, soil moisture management, chemigation, and fumigation.
Raw Utilization/Procurement: Working in the field to ensure high-quality potato attributes and understanding how plant efficiencies impact raw product costs. This also includes developing an understanding of raw product storage and optimization.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or related program. Juniors, Seniors, or Master’s degree students are preferred, but recent graduates are also considered.
GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Driver’s License: Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to meet Lamb Weston Authorized Driver standards.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Style: Ability and willingness to work independently.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills.
Computer Skills: Strong computer competency, including experience with tablets and/or iPhones. Experience with the MS Office suite is desirable.
