Essential Job Duties
As a Temporary Undergraduate Intern, you will be primarily involved in hands-on research activities related to genome editing in wheat plants. Your duties will include:
- Wheat plant planting, ensuring proper conditions for growth and development.
- Regular sampling of wheat plants for various research purposes.
- General management of wheat plants, including care and observation.
- Performing plant crossing techniques to develop new genetic lines.
- Potentially engaging with molecular biology techniques and tissue culture later on, as your training progresses and skills develop.
Work Schedule
The intern will work 5-10 hours per week, with hours scheduled between Monday and Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Compensation
Anticipated Hiring Range: $10/hr
Requirements and Preferences
Minimum Experience/Education
- A combination of training and experience required to perform the duties of the position.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate related program at NC State University (NCSU).
Department Required Skills
- A genuine interest in plants and plant science.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Prior experience working with wheat is preferred.
