Job Description: Early-Career Environmental Data Analyst/Data Manager

This position is located in Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, or Pensacola, FL. As an Early-Career Environmental Data Analyst/Data Manager, you will be part of the information management practice, working with consulting scientists and engineers to meet client data management needs.

Responsibilities:

Initial Training: You will receive training in Geosyntec’s standard operating protocols, covering database architecture, EQuIS and GIS work product preparation, and laboratory analytical data management and validation.
Data Management & Analysis: Utilize this training to support ongoing operations by managing databases and employing various tools to compile, visualize, and analyze data from diverse sources (streaming and static). This includes building interactive dashboards and reports.
Product & Service Development: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of new data-related products and services for clients.
Collaboration & Communication: Interact with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients to provide integrated data management and visualization solutions for environmental engineering and geoscience projects.
Database Management: Design, develop, and manage project-specific relational database applications using both desktop and enterprise database software.
Data Processing & Automation: Compile, process, verify, analyze, visualize, and report large and diverse datasets. Automate processes using Python and other scripting languages (VBA, Microsoft PowerAutomate, etc.).
EQuIS Platform Expertise: Utilize the EQuIS platform and Microsoft SQL Server-based databases to manage project data, including performing ETL (extraction, transformation, and loading) processes. Configure and implement EQuIS tools such as customizing reports, data loaders, and building web dashboards with EQuIS Enterprise.
GIS Expertise: Employ desktop and enterprise GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and open-source alternatives) to collect, store, analyze, and visualize spatial data.
Fieldwork: Participate in fieldwork, including soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, as well as remediation treatment system operation and maintenance. This will involve using mobile data collection platforms such as EQuIS Collect, Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, and GPS equipment.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, geosciences, GIS, or geography is required. An advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience: Related work experience is preferred, including experience in environmental field sampling, chemistry, data analysis, and/or visualization.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, SQL, .NET, Java/JavaScript, VBA) is required.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
Software Proficiency: Experience with EQuIS, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Server Data Management Studio is preferred. Experience with enterprise database platforms and/or ArcGIS is also preferred. Knowledge of data dashboard and BI tool development is a plus.
Other Requirements: Fieldwork and overnight travel are required. Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, client-driven drug and background testing are also mandatory. A valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are necessary for business travel. Academic training in environmentally-related disciplines is preferred.
