Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern – Summer 2025
WSP USA’s Buildings team seeks a full-time Mechanical Engineering Intern for their New York, NY office for the Summer 2025. This 12-week internship (starting May 19th, 2025, with potential flexibility) is part of their Summer Internship Program, which includes mentorship, networking, and career connections through their Developing Professionals Network. There is no relocation or housing assistance provided.
Responsibilities:
• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn fundamental Mechanical Engineering principles.
• Assist with project research, fieldwork, preliminary design calculations, and analysis.
• Contribute to the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Aid in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete assigned training.
• Practice responsible and ethical decision-making, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
• Active enrollment in an accredited Mechanical Engineering (or related) Undergraduate program, with anticipated graduation in August 2025 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering and a strong desire to enhance skills relevant to WSP’s work.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to effectively convey ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to follow directions from leadership and mentors.
• Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Enrollment in an accredited Mechanical Engineering (or related) Masters or PhD program, with anticipated graduation in August 2025 or later.
• Prior internship experience.
• Leadership roles in campus activities.
Compensation: $19.13 – $30.00 per hour (Note: This is a compensation range; actual pay may vary based on experience and other factors).
