About the Company:
Slack is a company focused on simplifying, improving, and boosting productivity in the workplace. They are seeking Data Science Interns for Summer 2025 to contribute to their future development. The internship offers hands-on experience working with data in a fast-paced environment. Slack’s data scientists use data and research to inform decisions, translating findings into narratives and collaborating with key company figures. Job Description:
Data Science Interns will be involved in the following:
• Project Definition: Defining complete product data science projects in partnership with a mentor and product partner.
• Actionable Analysis: Conducting insightful analysis through the creation of data sets and the application of various data science methodologies.
• Collaboration & Recommendations: Working with product partners to translate analysis results into actionable product suggestions.
• Presentation & Influence: Presenting findings and recommendations to product, design, and engineering stakeholders to guide decision-making.
• Feedback Integration: Actively seeking and incorporating feedback on their work from mentors, other data scientists, and cross-functional team members.
Requirements:
• Graduation date of December 2025 or later.
• Currently pursuing an advanced degree (MS, PhD, or equivalent) in a quantitative field (preferred fields include economics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or engineering).
• Strong data coding skills (Python or R, SQL).
• Excellent understanding of statistical foundations relevant to modern data science, including experimentation, causal inference, segmentation, and statistical and machine learning models.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to create compelling data-driven narratives.
• Proven ability to connect data analysis to practical business issues and influence business decisions.
• Prior experience (e.g., internship) applying data analysis to real-world business challenges.
