Audit Accounting Intern | Mauldin & Jenkins

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person Metairie, LA
• Mission: To assist with audit engagements, management services, or tax return preparation for clients, while developing technical and professional skills.
• Tech Stack: Firm manuals, computer software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Internal Controls: Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Account Reconciliation: Examine client reconciliations of bank and subsidiary accounts, investigating any discrepancies.
• Tax Preparation Support: Review data input, identify and resolve technical tax issues, and assist in the review of tax preparations.
• Project Management: Meet deadlines for the completion of tax returns and other assigned projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a college degree with a major or concentration in accounting.
• Experience: Must provide own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship; willingness to undertake overnight travel as necessary.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of Mauldin & Jenkins.
