Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 (Milwaukee) | BDO USA
The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at BDO USA, located in Milwaukee. BDO is an ESOP company providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and globally, and is looking for energetic self-starters. This role is crucial for utilizing your educational background, gaining a hands-on perspective on firm practices, and beginning to forge relationships essential for a successful career. You will work alongside experienced team members who will provide direction, coaching, and learning opportunities.
The TL;DR

• Pay: $32–$45 hourly
• Mission: Assist in problem-solving and fact-finding within the firm’s Assurance practice for a diverse client base.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards through a structured on-the-job training program.
• Apply BDO’s specific audit methodology to support various stages of the audit process.
• Provide various support functions to the audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO specific tools and templates.
• Complete one assigned accounting or audit related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting; Entry-Level.
• Experience: No specific years required; leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow instructions as directed; ability to work effectively in a team setting; positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Bonus: Pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
