Corporate Finance Associate | Artisan Partners
The Tone:
This is a Corporate Finance Associate role at Artisan Partners, an organization where the Corporate Finance team is integral to maintaining financial integrity through robust accounting, comprehensive financial reporting, insightful analysis, and stringent financial controls. The chosen candidate will become part of a highly collaborative team, gaining broad exposure to a diverse range of accounting and financial activities throughout the Firm. This position provides a significant opportunity to build a strong foundational understanding in corporate finance, actively contributing to essential monthly close processes, detailed financial reporting and analysis, and the smooth execution of ongoing financial operations. Furthermore, the role emphasizes modernizing team workflows by actively using data, advanced analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to continually improve processes, strengthen financial controls, and generate more meaningful financial insights for decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monthly Close & Reconciliations: Support the monthly close process, including the preparation of general ledger entries, thorough account reconciliations, and related financial analysis.
• Financial Performance Analysis: Analyze monthly financial results, identify key trends and drivers, and prepare comprehensive variance analysis for presentation to management.
• Process Automation & Improvement: Reconcile cash activity, investigate anomalies, and leverage analytical and automation tools to improve transaction matching and reconciliation processes.
• Budget-to-Actual Reporting: Partner with departments across the Firm to provide budget-to-actual reporting and analysis, identifying meaningful trends and expense drivers.
• Technical Accounting & Compliance: Analyze fixed asset transactions, apply appropriate GAAP accounting treatment, and perform calculations and analysis related to right-of-use assets and lease liabilities under ASC 842.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Four-year degree in accounting with demonstrated academic achievement, possessing strong accounting fundamentals.
• Experience: 1–3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience; public accounting experience is preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and exposure to at least one data or analytics tool such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or Python.
• Bonus: CPA or progress toward CPA designation, experience using large language models (LLMs) for practical applications, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in leveraging technology for continuous process improvement within the Finance function.
