2027 Spring Internship | Doeren Mayhew
The Tone:
This is an internship at Doeren Mayhew, a CPA and advisory firm recognized as the 36th largest in the industry. This program is designed to provide students with real-world accounting experience before they complete their degrees. The role offers a hands-on opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining insights into public accounting careers and challenging existing business norms.

• Mission: To gain hands-on accounting experience and prepare for a career in public accounting by performing associate-level responsibilities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Engagements: Work on numerous engagement teams to complete audits, reviews, and compilations for a variety of clients.
• Tax Preparation: Assist with the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns, including personal property, partnerships, C-Corp, and S-Corp returns.
• Financial Analysis: Compile, analyze, test, and document business transactions and financial information, preparing and reviewing financial statements as needed.
• Client Exposure: Travel to client sites and gain exposure to 8-12 client engagements across diverse industries such as manufacturing, construction, non-profit, auto dealership, retail, hospitality, and restaurant.
• Research & Projections: Conduct tax research and work on tax projections utilizing information provided by clients or compiled by audit staff.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course by Spring 2027 preferred, and prior work experience (related or unrelated to accounting) is also preferred.
• Skills: Strong drive and motivation to pursue a career in public accounting, demonstrated leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, proven time management skills, high degree of curiosity, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm.
• Bonus: 3.0 GPA (cumulative and in accounting major) and the ability to work 25-40+ hours per week.
