2027 Spring Internship | Doeren Mayhew

The Tone:
This is a Spring internship at Doeren Mayhew, a 36th largest CPA and advisory firm. This hands-on program allows students to gain real-world accounting experience before completing their degree. Interns will work alongside seasoned professionals, helping to navigate and challenge accounting and business norms. This experience mirrors that of first-year associates, offering a direct view into a public accounting career.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Part-time to Full-time
• Mission: Provide real-world accounting experience and hands-on training to aspiring professionals in corporate audit or domestic tax.
• Team: Audit Service Group or Domestic Tax Service Group, reporting to Managers and Principals.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Work on numerous engagement teams with professionals to complete audits, reviews, and compilations for clients.
• Assist with the preparation of various corporate and individual tax returns.
• Travel to client sites to perform audit engagements and compile financial information.
• Test and document business transactions for a variety of client engagements.
• Conduct tax research and work on tax projections using compiled client information.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; Entry-Level.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required.
• Skills:
• 3.0 GPA (cumulative and in accounting major)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven time management skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to take initiative
• Bonus:
• Completion of at least one intermediate accounting course by Spring 2027
• Work experience (related or unrelated to accounting)
• Ability to work 25-40+ hours per week
• Strong drive and motivation to pursue a career in public accounting
