The Tone:
This is a full-time senior leadership role at Chubb, likely located in Paris, France, or within the CEMENA region. Chubb is a global insurance company providing a wide range of insurance products and services. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic legal direction and oversight for Chubb’s insurance operations across Continental Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. The Deputy General Counsel serves as a trusted legal advisor, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, managing legal risk, and advancing business objectives across a complex, multi-jurisdictional landscape.

• Team: Leads the regional Legal & Compliance Team, operating within a matrix structure and partnering with the CEMENA leadership.
• Mission: To drive strategic legal direction, ensure comprehensive legal and regulatory compliance, and manage legal risk for Chubb’s insurance operations across the CEMENA region.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Advice: Provide authoritative legal and regulatory advice on matters affecting Chubb’s insurance businesses across CEMENA, including product development, distribution, and compliance.
• Strategic Partnership: Act as a key legal partner to the Division President CEMENA and the CEMENA leadership team, providing proactive and strategic counsel on business priorities and regional developments.
• Regulatory Relations: Lead and support the management of Chubb’s regulatory relationships with the ACPR in Paris and other relevant regulators across CEMENA.
• Team Management: Navigate and operate effectively within a matrix reporting structure, managing the Legal & Compliance Team with particular responsibility for country legal counsels across CEMENA.
• Strategic Transactions: Hold primary regional accountability for M&A, joint ventures, and other significant strategic transactions across CEMENA.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A qualified lawyer with a strong background in the insurance or financial services sector, specializing in general insurance law and regulation across CEMENA.
• Experience: At least 10 years’ post-qualification experience, with a track record of leading high-performing teams and managing complex legal matters in a matrixed, multicultural environment.
• Skills: Technical and verbal fluency in both French and English, excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, and the confidence to engage and influence senior business leaders with pragmatic, solutions-oriented advice.
