Finance Development Program | DICK’S Sporting Goods

The Tone:
This is a 2-year rotational program, based out of Pittsburgh, PA. The company is a leading omni-channel sporting goods retailer, operating over 720 locations and inspiring athletes through extensive assortments, dedicated associates, and specialty shop-in-shops. This program plays a critical role in developing future finance leaders by providing broad exposure to essential business activities, supporting the company’s mission to equip athletes to achieve their dreams.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time
• Location: In-person Pittsburgh, PA

• Team: Finance Function
• Mission: Gain exposure to a broad range of business activities within Finance to develop functional and leadership skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Rotations: Rotate through four distinct 6-month assignments across crucial areas of the Finance function, gaining broad business exposure to the company’s operations.
• Application: Apply practical financial knowledge within specialized disciplines such as Non-Merchandise Procurement, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, Store Operations FP&A, and Supply Chain FP&A.
• Development: Develop functional and leadership capabilities by collaborating with experts and engaging with teammates across all levels of the company, including Senior Executives.
• Training: Participate in an immersive orientation designed to introduce you to the company, Pittsburgh, the program, and your teammates, alongside receiving on-the-job training and professional development workshops.
• Contribution: Independently make data-driven recommendations and contribute to financial processes while cultivating a deep understanding of consumer and retail trends.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance; Entry-Level career.
• Experience: Less than 1 year of professional experience is required.
• Skills:
• Possess strong mathematical and quantitative abilities, demonstrating a keen interest and confidence in working with data and numbers.
• Exhibit demonstrated leadership skills, with the capability to independently formulate and present data-driven recommendations.
• Maintain a dynamic written and verbal communication style, essential for drafting reports and communicating effectively across functions and vertically throughout the organization.
• Show a distinct curiosity and desire to learn about prevailing consumer and retail trends, including customer demographics, purchasing influencers, and emerging technology.
• Demonstrate the ability to thrive and perform effectively in a deadline-oriented work environment.
• Bonus: Strong mathematical and quantitative skills are highly preferred.
