Total Wealth Planner, Advanced Planning Services – Western Canada | Scotiabank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Scotiabank, located across various cities in Western Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon. Scotiabank is dedicated to helping customers, their families, and communities achieve success through a broad range of advice, products, and services in banking and wealth management. This role is crucial for providing expert total wealth planning advice to Ultra High Net Worth clients, directly contributing to the strategic objectives of the Total Wealth Planning, APS team.

• Mission: To create and deliver strategic Total Wealth Plans and comprehensive Total Wealth Plans for Ultra High Net Worth clients in collaboration with SWM advisors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Focus: Champion a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and effectively utilize broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Wealth Planning Advice: Provide in-depth, quality wealth planning advice for all life stages, offering guidance through intergenerational wealth transfer processes and consulting on Advisor-led Total Wealth Plans.
• Planning Process Execution: Conduct the full total wealth planning process from initial discovery to plan presentation for Ultra High Net Worth clients, typically with investable assets of at least $5MM.
• Relationship Management: Build and manage internal and external relationships to drive collaboration, ensuring a seamless client experience and working with external professional advisors (CPAs, lawyers) on complex planning matters.
• Educational Facilitation: Prepare and facilitate client and staff workshops and seminars on various current financial planning topics as required.

The Must-Haves
• Background: University degree accompanied by an accredited financial planning designation (Pl.Fin – IQPF applicable for Quebec).
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a high net worth financial planner, demonstrating comprehensive technical understanding and execution of the financial planning process covering investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, cash management, and taxation.
• Skills: Strong presentation skills to articulate complex financial concepts clearly, strong interpersonal skills to quickly build relationships and trust, and expert knowledge of financial planning software, specifically Architect.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of the Wealth Management business line, including its value proposition and services for high net worth clients, and knowledge of insurance products and solutions.
