Audit Intern | KPMG Financial Reporting View (FRV)

The Tone:
This is an internship at KPMG, located in multiple locations. This role contributes to serving capital markets by helping to ensure the accuracy and reliability of client financial information, while upholding principles of objectivity and independence. What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Execution: Conduct financial statement audits, contribute to client operational effectiveness, and develop an understanding of client-specific risks.
• Documentation: Prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding client processes and technology systems, translating complex findings into actionable insights.
• Testing: Execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using appropriate standards and terminology, with guidance.
• Team Collaboration: Support the execution of a high-quality audit through performance of assigned tasks and professional client and engagement team interactions.
• Data Analysis: Support data-driven audits by utilizing a range of technologies and data analysis tools, including artificial intelligence, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, and Power BI.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be an entry-level professional enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or an equivalent program.
• Experience: Must have completed at least one college-level accounting course at the time of application, and have additional academic credits to complete toward a degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements after this internship. Must be pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business.
• Skills: Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, including U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to use common business technologies such as MS Office (with emphasis on Excel) and AI; strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
• Bonus: Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above; coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred; experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx or Power BI preferred.
