The Tone:
This is a full-time, approximate four-year development track at Vulcan Materials Company, involving work at multiple operations facilities and occasional travel. Vulcan Materials Company is a major producer of construction aggregates, focusing on core mining and aggregate processing operations. This program is designed to prepare candidates for a Plant Manager role by providing comprehensive hands-on technical training, leadership development, and business exposure. The role is critical for developing future operational leaders who can drive positive business results and ensure efficient, compliant facility management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Ownership: Own and deliver operations-based projects, presenting positive business results to leadership within the first six months.
• Technical Training: Gain deep exposure to core mining and aggregate processing operations, including quality control, plant maintenance, and mobile equipment.
• Management Development: Participate in dedicated management training to develop proficiency in operational planning, resource allocation, and personnel management.
• Operational Progression: Advance through increasing leadership roles, starting with limited supervisory duties and progressing to Assistant Plant Manager.
• Compliance & Collaboration: Participate in Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs and collaborate with commercial and sales teams to support market demands.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Construction Management preferred.
• Experience: General knowledge of business and organization practices; industry or construction-related internship experience is helpful.
• Skills: Professional communication across all organizational levels, strong interpersonal skills for relationship building, and effective leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Skills: Critical thinking to solve operational problems, a self-motivated aptitude for learning, and strong time management skills.
• Bonus: Willingness to relocate within a designated region, flexibility to travel about 10% of the time, and adaptability to work in an outdoor, heavy industrial environment under varying weather conditions.
