Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 | RSM US LLP

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: Varies by client location (travel required)
• Pay: $34–$40 hourly
• Mission: Contribute to ensuring clients’ financial statements are accurate and comply with accounting and reporting standards, supporting informed business decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Understanding: Comprehend clients’ needs, expectations, business operations, industry specifics, accounting and control systems, and relevant GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Audit Approach: Develop an understanding of the RSM audit methodology and utilize associated tools effectively.
• Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential risks and assess the structure of clients’ internal controls.
• Issue Resolution: Perform comprehensive substantive tests and internal control tests to identify and resolve accounting or reporting discrepancies.
• Statement Drafting: Prepare financial statements adhering to prescribed formats and regulatory requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional working towards a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university, with an Accounting Major. Candidates must have successfully completed 90 credit hours towards their degree.
• Experience: This role requires consistent travel to assigned client locations. Candidates must possess and be able to arrange for reliable modes of transportation to facilitate these client visits.
• Skills: Possess strong computer skills, demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Excel. The role also demands excellent written and verbal communication abilities for clear client and team interaction, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Bonus: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred. Additionally, the intern should demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in varying work environments.
