Operational Information Management & Performance Reporting Officer, NOC | World Food Programme

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at World Food Programme, located in Banjul, Gambia. The World Food Programme is the largest humanitarian organization globally, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and fostering peace through food assistance for communities recovering from conflict, disasters, and extreme weather. This role is crucial for establishing a consistent and accurate operational picture of WFP’s activities and results, ensuring timely and informed decision-making across all organizational levels.

• Team: Manages a small team of OIM staff and reports to the Country Director
• Mission: To lead, oversee, and coordinate operational information management and performance reporting to facilitate informed and timely decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Systems Development: Contribute to the creation of effective systems and tools for operational information management, performance reporting, and inter-agency information sharing in line with WFP and UN policies.
• Provide Technical Governance: Offer technical advice, governance, and oversight to WFP offices on integrating information management and reporting policies to ensure quality, consistency, and standardization.
• Oversee Information Exchange: Supervise and approve the collation and exchange of internal and external information to provide operational awareness of events with humanitarian or operational impact.
• Support Performance Reporting: Collaborate on the Annual Country Report (ACR) exercise with program, monitoring & evaluation, and logistics functions to ensure coherence and quality of information.
• Enhance Capacity: Improve the ability of WFP staff, partners, and governments to manage operational information and performance reporting through training and disaster management simulations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced University degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. A First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses is also accepted.
• Experience: Typically five or more years of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field, coupled with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
• Skills: Sound theoretical understanding of OIM concepts and principles, strong analytical skills for interpreting information, strong oral and written communication abilities, and the capacity to lead, motivate, and develop small teams.
