Analyst Internship – Controllers (CFO Org) | GEICO

The Tone:
This is a paid 10-week summer internship at GEICO, located in New York City or Bethesda, MD, with a hybrid work schedule. GEICO, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family, is one of the largest auto insurers, known for its iconic brand and commitment to quality coverage and innovation. This role is crucial for bright and driven analytical students who will help drive the insurance business transformation, redefining customer experiences. It offers a unique opportunity to apply college skills to real-world financial projects and prepare for potential entry into the Analyst Development Program upon graduation within the CFO Organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Work: Work on significant analyst projects, attend meetings, and present to senior management.
• Business Exposure: Learn GEICO Finance and operations, including systems, data, and integration points.
• Skill Development: Develop analytical, project management, and communication skills, while building analyst business acumen.
• Strategic Impact: Directly impact GEICO’s financial and strategic performance by driving financial processing innovation and transformation.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders to analyze results and recommend future investment decisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required for Controllers track), Finance, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, or another relevant analytical or FinTech major. This is an entry-level position for students with an expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028.
• Experience: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in the Finance field through relevant internship experience, involvement in student or business organizations, pursuit of relevant certifications, advanced coursework, or other forms of engagement.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and PowerBI or similar tooling is essential. Candidates should possess a strong technical aptitude and either experience with or a desire to learn financial systems like Workday Financials. Critical skills include strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, the capacity to work independently and thrive in a constantly changing team environment, effective time management, attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities for accurate and timely results.
• Bonus: Knowledge in GAAP reporting is preferred.
