Associate General Counsel | Workday

The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transform: Transform contracting models, workflows, and department processes to achieve optimal efficiency and scale, analyzing complexity, effort, and risk.
• Implement: Implement a modern contracting strategy for streamlined end-to-end contracting processes for customer, partner, inbound, and professional services.
• Develop: Develop and maintain transactional infrastructure governance policies and processes and provide direction to the infrastructure transactional councils.
• Advise: Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional leaders and advise on a range of complex legal, business, and strategic issues.
• Champion: Act as a champion for organizational change and deliver change management to executives, legal team, and cross-functional audiences.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree and membership in at least one state bar, with a career level equivalent to a Director and Associate General Counsel.
• Experience: 10+ years as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house/public sector legal department, including 5+ years in-house legal experience focused on commercial transactions and 5+ years in modern contract drafting, legal transformation initiatives, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) concepts.
• Skills: Deep understanding of commercial, vendor, partner, and strategic contracting model needs for a cloud software provider; excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills for large enterprise organizations; proven track record of advising cross-functional leaders; analytical problem-solving and identifying and applying workflow automation tools; ability to work independently in an agile environment.
• Bonus: Experience with professional services, partner programs, and inbound/vendor contracting.
