Tax Associate | H&R Block

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Meet with clients to gather necessary information and understand their specific tax situation.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare complete and accurate tax returns, utilizing training and support from experienced teammates.
• Information Explanation: Explain complex tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand.
• Opportunity Identification: Identify potential tax savings opportunities for clients and recommend relevant products and services.
• Problem Solving: Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address unique questions or situations with available guidance and resources.
• Relationship Building: Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma / GED/ equivalent. Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
• Experience: Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs; problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions; comfort using digital tools and systems.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; experience in a client-facing or consultative role such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services; experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs; ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods; availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season.
