Tax Intern | Abacus!
The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Abacus!, a partner firm of Current, an accounting platform rapidly growing across the United States. Current invests heavily in technology, artificial intelligence, and workforce innovation to modernize the accounting profession. Interns will gain practical, hands-on experience in tax preparation, accounting, and client service, playing a vital role in supporting the firm’s operations and ensuring client compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Assist with preparing individual and business tax returns by gathering and organizing financial information.
• Bookkeep: Gain hands-on experience with bookkeeping, including data entry, account reconciliations, and financial documentation.
• Communicate: Communicate with clients to gather tax documents and clarify financial information.
• Maintain: Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation.
• Learn: Participate in training, shadow experienced tax professionals, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world client work.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in college at the Junior or Senior level, preferably pursuing an Accounting or related degree, with a basic understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial statements.
• Experience: No previous professional experience is required for this role.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to handle confidential financial information professionally and comfort with spreadsheets and technology.
• Bonus: Previous bookkeeping or tax preparation experience is a plus, along with eagerness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively.
