• Mission: Support core revenue accounting processes for a global online vacation rental business, developing expertise in revenue recognition, financial systems, data analysis, and process improvement.
• Tech Stack: Excel, SQL, Power Query, Tableau, financial systems, reporting tools, data sources.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support monthly and quarterly revenue accounting close activities, encompassing journal entries, close procedures, and comprehensive account reconciliations.
• Analyze: Prepare, maintain, and rigorously analyze reconciliations for restricted cash, revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and other related balance sheet accounts.
• Document: Assist in the precise application and thorough documentation of revenue recognition policies in adherence to U.S. GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
• Investigate: Review detailed transactional data, actively investigate variances and unusual financial activity, and effectively resolve reconciliation differences to ensure accuracy.
• Improve: Help maintain effective SOX controls, accounting documentation, and audit-ready support, while also identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve revenue accounting processes and reporting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. This role requires foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including the execution of account reconciliations, journal entries, and managing financial close activities.
• Experience: Up to three years of accounting experience gained through internships, public accounting, corporate accounting, or other relevant financial reporting roles. Demonstrated experience reviewing transactional data, investigating variances, or analyzing financial information is also required.
• Skills: Proficient Excel skills, crucial for data analysis and reporting, coupled with meticulous attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and follow-through. Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential for working successfully with teammates and cross-functional partners.
• Bonus: An interest in developing specialized expertise in revenue recognition and prior experience with U.S. GAAP. Familiarity with data tools such as SQL, Power Query, Tableau, financial systems, or similar reporting and data platforms. Experience supporting SOX controls, participating in audits, developing process documentation, or leading process improvement initiatives.
