Principal Software Engineer – Evisort AI | Workday

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Workday, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (hybrid). Workday provides a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, and the Evisort team focuses on transforming contract management. This role is crucial for enhancing and expanding Workday’s AI-driven contract management platform, enabling businesses to accelerate, scale, and safeguard operations by making contracts searchable and actionable. This work empowers legal and business professionals to achieve strategic impact and drive confident decisions faster.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate with engineering, data science, product, and design teams to build and evolve the platform’s vision, strategy, and roadmap.
• Contribute to a supportive, iterative team culture that values curiosity, learning, and strong engineering practices.
• Mentor teammates and share technical knowledge to contribute to their growth and success.
• Take ownership of multiple functional areas within the platform, managing them from development through production.
• Help deliver scalable, user-centric AI solutions that transform how legal and business teams manage their contracts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Principal-level software engineer specializing in AI-driven contract management platform development.
• Experience:
• 12+ years in professional software engineering.
• 8+ years with a web development framework (Flask, Django, FastAPI, NestJS, Sprint Boot, Ruby on Rails, ASP.NET, etc.).
• 8+ years with relational databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (AWS DDB).
• 5+ years leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Skills:
• Building and operating SaaS products in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with the tradeoffs and architecture of modern distributed systems.
• Knowledge of software development best practices including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
• Comfort working with ambiguity and translating complex problems into clear, thoughtful solutions.
• Bonus:
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch.
• Exposure to additional programming languages like Java (backend) and TypeScript (frontend/fullstack).
• Proven success working within agile environments and cross-functional teams.
