WREC Coalition Lead (Environmental Sustainability in Humanitarian Logistics) – P4 | World Food Programme
The Tone:
This is an International Professional position at the World Food Programme, located in Rome, Italy. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and fostering peace through food assistance for those recovering from conflict, disasters, and extreme weather. This role is crucial for the Environmental Sustainability in Humanitarian Logistics (WREC) Coalition, a multi-agency initiative striving to minimize the environmental impact of humanitarian supply chains. The incumbent will provide overall strategic vision, management, and coordination to empower the humanitarian logistics community to measure and reduce its environmental footprint.
The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to the Deputy Global Logistics & Telecommunications Cluster Coordinator (Logistics)
• Mission: Own the overall convening, strategic vision, management, donor liaison, representation, work planning, and coordination of activities for the WREC Coalition to reduce environmental impact in humanitarian logistics.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Planning & Reporting: Plan key project timelines, deliverables, committee meetings, donor reporting, and fundraising activities for the WREC Coalition, ensuring submissions and interactions align with partner communities.
• Coordination: Coordinate with the Steering Committee representatives, serving as a non-decision-making member and secretariat, and technically supervise subject matter experts embedded within participating organizations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with other actors, including donors, the private sector, academia, and humanitarian implementers, involved in environmental sustainability projects relevant to humanitarian logistics to maintain partnerships and stay updated.
• Implementation Management: Manage and support WREC team members and contributors in implementing agreed activities, monitoring tasks against plans, and providing solutions to the Steering Committee for adjustments to activities, budgets, and outcomes.
• Coalition Management: Develop and manage the implementation of coalition and team work plans, oversee budget utilization, identify and mitigate risks, and facilitate legal agreements required for fund and staffing management of project assets.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in project management, communications, logistics, international development, or environmental sustainability; or a first-level university degree with qualifying experience. Knowledge of environmental sustainability concepts is required, alongside experience in humanitarian logistics.
• Experience: Minimum eight years of professional experience in an international context, including project management of multi-stakeholder projects, drafting partnership projects, and presenting to high-level donor and agency representatives. Experience in multi-agency humanitarian collaborations is an advantage.
• Skills: Strong command of English (both spoken and written), excellent presentation and people skills, experience working with a decentralized team and a multi-organization coalition, ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and ability to react promptly to project adjustments.
• Bonus: Project Management certification, experience with large application implementation projects, strong familiarity with Project Management software, and ability to transform business requirements into technical project documentation.
