Property Accountant I (Lowell Regional Operations) | WinnCompanies
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at WinnCompanies, located in Lowell, MA. WinnCompanies is an award-winning owner, developer, and manager of high-impact, mixed-income apartment communities, recognized as one of the nation’s leading managers of multifamily housing and one of the largest operators of affordable housing communities, supported by over 4,600 team members. This role is crucial as the primary accounting liaison for an assigned portfolio, responsible for maintaining and interpreting accurate financial records and overseeing critical month-end and year-end tasks to ensure the financial health of the properties.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile accounts: Perform a variety of key monthly accounting tasks, including the completion of bank and escrow reconciliations.
• Manage payments: Ensure timely payment of mortgages, management fees, escrow funding, real estate taxes, and insurance renewals.
• Analyze financial statements: Review and analyze monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness in accordance with US GAAP and related regulatory requirements.
• Oversee audits: Coordinate audit-related tasks, prepare detailed workpaper packages, and respond to auditor requests for information to meet all investor/agency reporting deadlines.
• Prepare budgets: Prepare the accounting portion of the operating budget in accordance with company’s budget guidance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Experience: At least 1 year of accounting experience, including reviewing general ledgers and identifying budget variances.
• Skills: Superb attention to detail, excellent time management and prioritization skills, strong verbal and written communication, customer service orientation, and proficiency with web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suites.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; property management accounting experience; experience with Yardi, RealPage, or other property management software; past experience with Microsoft Copilot.
