ANALYST, STAFF ACCOUNTANT | Oceanview Life and Annuity

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Oceanview Life and Annuity, located in Denver, CO, with a hybrid work model (3x/week in-office). Oceanview, founded in 2018 and backed by Bayview Asset Management, is a financial services provider offering straightforward annuity solutions to empower individuals on their journey toward a financially secure retirement. This Staff Accountant role is crucial for maintaining the company’s financial integrity by ensuring accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations. The position contributes directly to simplifying retirement planning and providing peace of mind through diligent financial operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger: Produce journal entries for the monthly GAAP close, utilizing data from the investment manager and internal groups.
• Reporting Support: Provide support for the monthly GAAP and Stat reporting processes, including annual report preparation.
• Payment Processing: Support payments, including invoices and investment transactions, while adhering to policies and tracking required approvals.
• Audit Assistance: Provide necessary support to both external and internal auditors for successful completion of quarterly and annual reviews and controls.
• Project Contribution: Provide extensive project support for initiatives such as reinsurance, legal entity, regulatory, and cash transaction analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Entry-Level career with an interest in the insurance or financial services industry.
• Experience: Prior internship experience or 1-2 years of experience in the insurance/financial services industry is preferred.
• Skills: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Bonus: Dedication as a team player, quick learner, energetic, engaging, and willingness to embrace multiple projects while adapting to an ever-changing environment.
