This is a full-time, on-site role at Great Plains Manufacturing, Inc., located in Salina, KS. This Staff Accountant role is critical for maintaining financial integrity, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and providing essential financial analysis to support management decisions and compliance across the organization’s divisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Compilation: Compile and analyze financial information for preparing and booking journal entries.
• Month-End Close: Complete a variety of month-end closing tasks independently.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile various general ledger accounts to ensure accurate and timely reporting, clearing items within the following accounting period.
• Tax Reporting: Prepare sales and use tax reports and submit payments.
• Accounting Treatment: Research and apply the appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field.
• Experience: No specific prior experience is strictly required for this role.
• Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; a strong focus on detail and accuracy.
• Bonus: 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounting role; a team player with strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage varying priorities.
