Staff Accountant | NewPoint Real Estate Capital
The Tone:
NewPoint Real Estate Capital is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its accounting and finance operations. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will assist with monthly close, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial and regulatory reporting, and audit support, contributing directly to the company’s financial integrity and operational efficiency within the commercial real estate lending environment.

• Mission: Supports general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for commercial real estate lending and servicing activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Reconcile: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with established policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain: Manage general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving reconciling items and variances related to lending and servicing activities.
• Report: Assist with preparing SEC filings, financial statements, regulatory and compliance reporting, and audit schedules.
• Analyze: Research and interpret accounting and financial data to identify opportunities for process and reporting improvements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental internal control concepts.
• Experience: Relevant accounting experience, with a preference for public accounting or financial-services accounting experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word, as well as accounting and financial reporting systems; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: CPA or CPA-track preferred; experience with commercial real estate, real estate lending, mortgage finance, or loan servicing industries preferred.
