This Staff Accountant position is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of a new factory startup in Prince George, VA, which will manufacture large, complex equipment. The role ensures compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), contributing to the foundational financial operations of this significant new venture.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile financial records, and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Transaction Processing: Process payroll-related transactions and maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, supporting internal and external audits.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Interact with various departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and support strategic initiatives.
• Process Improvement: Identify and recommend enhancements to existing accounting processes and procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience: 0-2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multinational environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, advanced formulas), excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bonus: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
