ACCOUNTANT I | Access Health Louisiana

What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide Comprehensive Support: Offer both accounting and administrative assistance to the Director of Accounting, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer, ensuring smooth operation of financial activity.
• Ensure Financial Integrity: Apply a thorough understanding of accounting principles and effectively utilize double entry computerized accounting systems to maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain Ethical Record Keeping: Handle detailed and precise record keeping with a high level of ethics, specifically maintaining discretion regarding both corporate and patient information.
• Drive Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in financial processes, demonstrating forward thinking and a positive attitude while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Contribute to Financial Planning: Utilize knowledge of budgeting and cost accounting principles to support financial analysis and contribute to the organization’s fiscal health.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required. The organization may consider accounting experience as a substitute for the Bachelor’s Degree, at the discretion of the Chief Financial Officer, provided candidates demonstrate core knowledge of accounting principles and double entry computerized accounting systems.
• Experience: Requires one year of prior experience in an accounting role. Preference will be given to candidates who have accumulated this experience within a non-profit healthcare environment.
• Skills: Candidates must possess expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, proficiency with various computer accounting software and the broader MS Office Suite, and a solid understanding of budgeting and cost accounting principles. Essential soft skills include strong analytical ability, problem-solving capacity, organizational proficiency, effective communication, sound judgment, initiative, creativity, and the ability to maintain discretion.
• Bonus: Prior accounting experience specifically within a non-profit healthcare organization is highly desirable.
