The Staff Accountant performs a variety of general accounting activities critical for the month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial analysis, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP for timely and accurate reporting. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and strong collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional and remote teams.

• Mission: To ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting for Rug Doctor operations, supporting month-end close and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Close Process: Execute assigned month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, to ensure timely completion of financial periods.
• Reconcile Accounts: Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items and variances to maintain ledger accuracy.
• Analyze Financial Data: Evaluate fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts between reporting periods and against prior-year results for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Maintain General Ledger: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including supporting the opening and closing of accounting periods and proper classification of financial information.
• Ensure Compliance & Support Projects: Review financial information for proper classification and compliance with accounting standards, and participate in process improvement initiatives and special assignments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, establishing the fundamental educational background for this early career accounting role.
• Experience: Practical experience in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes is essential.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems; solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
• Bonus: Prior accounting experience is preferred.
