Staff Accountant | Accountants One

This is a hybrid role, based in Atlanta, GA, for a Staff Accountant joining the corporate accounting team of a growing company, partnered with Accountants One. This position is vital for supporting the accurate and timely completion of the monthly close process. The Staff Accountant’s contributions will directly impact financial record-keeping, encompassing the preparation of journal entries, the meticulous maintenance of fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules, and the thorough performance of account reconciliations. The role is integral to maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare Journal Entries and Accruals: Prepare and meticulously post monthly journal entries, including all necessary accruals and their related supporting documentation, to accurately record financial transactions and contribute to the monthly close process.
• Manage Accounting Schedules: Take responsibility for maintaining and reconciling detailed fixed asset schedules, overseeing capitalization and depreciation, and managing prepaid expense schedules by accurately recording monthly amortization entries.
• Support Financial Close, Audits, and Reporting: Actively assist with critical month-end and year-end close activities, provide comprehensive support for both internal and external audit requests, and contribute by assisting with financial reporting and analysis.
• Reconcile Accounts and Resolve Discrepancies: Perform thorough reconciliations of general ledger accounts and balance sheet items, diligently investigating variances and ensuring the timely resolution of any identified discrepancies.
• Ensure Compliance and Process Improvement: Ensure strict compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies within the corporate accounting function.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, coupled with a fundamental understanding of core accounting principles including general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on accounting experience is essential for this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel is critical. Additionally, candidates must possess strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the proven ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
