Underwriting Development Program – Global Risk Solutions – June 2027 Start | Liberty Mutual Insurance

The Tone:
This is a full-time role within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a global insurance provider. The company’s Global Risk Solutions (GRS) business delivers commercial and specialty insurance, surety, and reinsurance solutions for midsize, large, and global businesses. This role is crucial for an Associate Underwriter to learn how to evaluate complex risks, develop tailored insurance solutions, and make strategic business decisions that support both customers and the company’s sustained success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Risk Evaluation: Analyze business information, financial data, and industry trends to evaluate the suitability of risks.
• Solution Development: Partner with brokers, customers, and internal teams to understand client needs and develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Expertise Building: Develop expertise in risk selection, coverage analysis, and pricing strategies to meet market demands.
• Decision Making: Make informed business decisions that balance customer needs with profitable growth objectives for the company.
• Foundational Learning: Build a foundation in underwriting principles, risk assessment, coverage analysis, and pricing through formal coursework and hands-on experience.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience: 0-2 years of related professional experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiating, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for customer service.
• Bonus: A strong academic record with a cumulative 3.0 GPA preferred. Must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education, and possess a valid driver’s license for regular travel to customer locations.
