Junior Accountant | Whitestone Associates, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a fully in-office, on-site role at Whitestone Associates, Inc., located at one of their offices throughout the eastern United States. Whitestone Associates is a 100% employee-owned Geotechnical and Environmental consulting firm. This position is a crucial opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation in finance within a collaborative team environment. The role directly contributes to the organization’s continued success by ensuring accurate financial operations.

• Mission: Ensure accurate processing of financial transactions and maintenance of accounting records to support the firm’s operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoicing: Process a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding, entry, and routing for approval.
• Payments: Process vendor payments accurately and in accordance with established payment schedules.
• Vendor Management: Manage vendor setup and maintenance, including obtaining and maintaining required documentation like Certificates of Insurance, W-9s, and subcontractor agreements.
• Expense Processing: Review and process employee expense reports and company credit card statements, including verification of supporting documentation and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable transactions, vendor statements, and related accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; early-career accounting professional.
• Experience: No specific experience required; previous accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related internship experience is a plus.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Bonus: Experience within the AEC industry or a related professional services industry.
