Accountant | Maedex Tax & Farm Accounting

The Tone:
This is a full-time, salaried, hybrid Accountant role based in Fond du Lac, Waupun, or remotely within Wisconsin, with an expectation for on-site work in Oshkosh, WI as needed. Maedex Tax & Farm Accounting is a small business dedicated to supporting individuals and other small businesses with essential financial services. This role is crucial for delivering personalized bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation services, fostering strong collaborative client relationships, and ensuring accurate financial management for a diverse client base. The firm emphasizes one-on-one service, empowering clients with clear control over their financial information while helping them strengthen their professional networks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Bookkeeping: Handle daily bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records for individual and small business clients.
• Payroll Management: Prepare and review payroll processes for clients, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
• Tax Support: Assist with tax preparation and filings for individuals and small businesses, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
• Financial Reporting: Generate financial reports to provide clients with insights into their financial data.
• Client Communication: Support clients by answering questions about their financial information and communicate clearly with team members to provide high-quality, personalized service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Strong foundational knowledge in accounting and bookkeeping principles, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Experience: Proven experience with payroll processing and basic tax preparation for individuals and small businesses. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under deadlines.
• Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems. Effective written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating a client-focused and detail-oriented approach.
• Bonus: Relevant certifications such as CPA or EA. Prior experience in small business or farm accounting. Familiarity with local and federal tax regulations.
