CAAS Staff Accountant | Tronconi Segarra & Associates

The Tone:
This is a staff accountant role at Tronconi Segarra & Associates, a leading accounting and advisory firm based in Western New York. The company, partnered with Ascend, is building a dynamic platform for regional accounting firms, aiming to expand its footprint and enhance client service offerings. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality accounting services within the rapidly expanding Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice. The Staff Accountant will directly help clients manage financial operations, gain data insights, and make confident business decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Record Management: Prepare and maintain client financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and financial statements, adhering to established accounting processes and workflows.
• Financial Operations Support: Assist in month-end and year-end close processes and support controllership and CFO-level engagements with accurate and timely data.
• Insight Generation: Translate financial data into actionable insights, support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects, and contribute to the development of reporting tools.
• Process Optimization: Utilize and assist with implementation of cloud-based accounting platforms, identify opportunities to improve client and internal workflows, and onboard new clients into company systems.
• Professional Development: Collaborate with team members, take ownership of tasks, and pursue expanded responsibilities through mentorship, training, and certifications.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; entry-level career stage.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting, outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, or finance environments. Experience with month-end close, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation is preferred.
• Skills: Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to embrace and master new processes, effective documentation and clear communication of complex information, proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, public accounting experience, proficiency with QuickBooks, Odoo, SAGE.
