The Tone:
This is a full-time, hands-on development role at Radius Recycling, with in-person work across various company locations, including active industrial environments. This critical position is designed to develop future operations leaders, impacting safety, service quality, cost efficiency, and overall team success through daily decisions and strategic understanding of the business.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Environmental, Health & Safety: Learn and strictly adhere to Radius Recycling’s safety and environmental expectations, actively identifying hazards, preventing incidents, and supporting corrective actions to protect all personnel and company assets.
• Operations & Field Leadership: Collaborate directly with operations teams to master daily routines, understand material flow, conduct scale and inspection work, oversee facility operations, coordinate staffing, manage equipment use, and ensure shipment readiness.
• Commercial & Customer/Supplier Alignment: Gain a comprehensive understanding of how key factors like buying, selling, freight costs, material quality, strong supplier relationships, customer service, and market conditions collectively influence business decisions and overall profit.
• Maintenance & Reliability: Learn the vital role of maintenance in sustaining safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations through preventive maintenance practices, effective downtime response, work order management, and clear communication with operations leaders.
• Inventory, Quality & Business Results: Connect daily operational decisions to safety, cost, profit, and business performance by understanding inspection processes, metal identification, production records, inventory reporting, quality control, budgets, forecasts, and business reviews.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A foundational understanding of operations leadership and business management, typically demonstrated by a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience: A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to travel locally or to other Radius Recycling locations for training and field exposure. This role demands the ability to quickly learn and consistently adhere to all safety, environmental, operational, commercial, and financial protocols within an active industrial setting.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong communication, mathematical proficiency, organizational capabilities, consistent follow-through, and effective problem-solving abilities. Essential qualities also include the capacity to perform under deadline pressure, analyze complex information, exercise sound judgment, and communicate professionally with diverse stakeholders.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include one or more years of experience in scrap, manufacturing, metals recycling, or a related industrial environment, or three to five years in a heavy industrial setting. A working knowledge of fabrication, tools, maintenance equipment, and repair practices is highly valued. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the aptitude to learn specific business systems, reporting tools, and operational documentation are also beneficial. The ability to review operational, technical, and financial data and recommend practical improvements for safety, service, productivity, cost, quality, or profit is a strong plus.
