This is a full-time role at NextEra Energy Resources, located in the Juno Beach/Jupiter/West Palm Beach area, FL. NextEra Energy, including Florida Power & Light Company, is the largest electric utility in the U.S. and a rapidly expanding renewable energy generation business, dedicated to providing reliable, cost-effective energy and redefining industry possibilities. This Financial Leadership Development Program is designed to cultivate early-career finance and accounting professionals, developing them into future leaders who will drive the organization’s continued growth, supporting diverse business units from renewable energy development and power generation to power delivery and customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Understand Business Fundamentals: Actively learn and comprehend the business, its key operational drivers, specific finance and accounting issues for assigned functional areas, and related market forces within the energy industry.
• Ensure Financial Integrity: Understand the finance and accounting impact of business transactions, diligently ensuring full compliance with GAAP requirements and supporting essential internal and external reporting functions, including 10-K, 10-Q, and management reporting.
• Drive Process Excellence: Demonstrate strong initiative, a clear drive to succeed, and take full ownership over assigned tasks, consistently meeting aggressive deadlines for finance, accounting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
• Foster Collaborative Relationships: Build and maintain strong, productive working relationships across various organizational departments to ensure the proper accounting, consolidation, and reporting of assigned functional areas.
• Implement Strategic Projects: Actively participate in and execute special projects, which may include vital initiatives such as software implementations, Six Sigma projects, Agile projects, process automation, and the implementation of new accounting standards.
• Maintain Internal Controls: Rigorously comply with all Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes, contributing to a robust and effective internal controls environment across financial operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related field, aimed at developing early-career professionals into leadership roles within finance and accounting.
• Experience: 1+ years of professional experience, coupled with a strong aptitude for leadership, often demonstrated through proactive involvement as a leader in student organizations.
• Skills: Collaborative orientation with a focus on team success over personal gain, self-motivation and commitment to excellence and personal growth, ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions, professional communication skills with a bias for action, strong planning and organizational abilities for process and project management, and integrity in compliance with company rules and policies.
• Bonus: Master’s in Business Administration, or a Bachelor’s specifically in Accounting or Finance, is preferred for this role.
