Accounting Technician – Division of Child Support | State of Oregon

What You’ll Actually Do
• Report Review: Review Oregon State Treasury (OST) reports to identify and process direct deposit returns and reversals.
• Direct Deposit Management: Create, log, and distribute direct deposit reversal requests and maintain direct deposit applications.
• Issue Resolution: Examine returned item reports, initiate redeposit processes, and resolve issues within dishonored recovery and receivable accounts.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain required logs, ledgers, and tracking documentation in alignment with data classification and security guidelines.
• Operational Support: Support Financial Services operations through cross-training tasks such as payment adjustments, UDC balancing, and treasury processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with core domain knowledge in calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information.
• Experience: At least two years of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that includes coding transactions, checking for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits; OR one year of similar experience AND at least 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) credit hours in introductory accounting (courses 1 and 2); OR successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or an equivalent accounting certificate program; OR at least 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) credit hours in accounting (introductory 1 and 2, plus additional accounting courses). Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
• Skills: Strong ability for identifying errors and creating solutions, analytical and critical thinking, customer service, data entry, interpreting and applying rules, policies, and procedures, attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bonus: Demonstrates strong communication skills, effectively multitasks and stays organized, makes quick and informed decisions with legal implications, proven history of delivering exceptional customer service, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and successfully manages high-volume workloads while meeting strict deadlines.
