Staff Accountant | Hanscom Federal Credit Union

• Mission: To ensure accurate financial operations through diligent processing, reconciliation, and reporting, supporting the credit union’s commitment to its members.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Processing: Process accounts payable, handle monthly billings for commercial account transactions, credit disability, and LS/LP, and submit weekly FR2900 reporting to the Federal Reserve; assist with financial statement preparation.
• Branch & Mortgage Reconciliation: Oversee the settlement and reconciliation of shared branching accounts, including any necessary adjustments, and oversee the settlement of mortgage-related accounts, including principal, escrow, and Fannie Mae.
• General Ledger & Payroll: Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, report any unusual activity to the Controller, and make general ledger entries for the Credit Union’s payroll.
• Asset Management & Daily Recon: Perform maintenance of the fixed asset system, including inventory, posting automatic computer-generated vouchers, and preparing prepaid asset processing; reconcile ACH and corporate statements daily.
• Account Discrepancy Resolution: Work closely with staff at all levels to resolve account discrepancies and perform such additional duties as requested or assigned.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate’s Degree, or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours, is generally required for this Early-Career position. A High School degree with significant and relevant work experience can be an adequate substitute in some cases.
• Experience: Candidates must have 1-3 years of similar or related preparatory experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is essential. Key attributes include strong detail orientation, excellent organization and multi-tasking abilities, intuition, and a firm commitment to complying with applicable financial laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
